Exhausted EMS Educator

&

Someone Who Has Been There

The following all-too-familiar conversation unfolds…

Program Director

This isn’t supposed to be a 24/7 job, but it is and it’s killing me. I got into education to make a difference in student’s lives, but I hardly spend any time actually educating. Between all the administrative stuff, worrying about CoAEMSP/CAAHEP accreditation, and covering when instructors call off…it’s just too much.

Julianne

So much for “work/life balance.”  This would be why the annual turnover of EMS Program Directors is approaching 40%.

Program Director

And my college doesn’t give me a release for directing the program AND I really need one more faculty member, but I can’t get it.  SO, I end up in contract overload and have high anxiety wondering what small thing I’ve forgotten that will get me in huge trouble.

Julianne

Yep, same.

I knew something had to change when I had to prep my first CSSR, and my dad was given 12 months to live.  As I sat in an empty building in a dark office with tears rolling down my face, I swore to do everything in my power to make sure nobody else faces such an impossible situation.

Program Director

So what did you do.. ?

Julianne

I kept hearing people say, “I wish I could build my own”–SO, I just did it.  Sterling Credentials —

  • collects what you need,
  • gives students an educational boost, and
  • has a TON of features to help ensure nothing administrative or regulatory slips through the cracks.

In fact, our platform is a “tracker” just like you are an “ambulance driver!”  HA! No, we’re an Educational Documentation System that educates while the students document!

Program Director

Wait, go back–“educational boost?”

Julianne

Yep–I was an educator, so I know how to leverage brain physiology to build synaptic pathways.  EVERYTHING a student does in Sterling supports the development of clinical excellence.

Plus, you never have to distract students with crap that doesn’t matter to them (like the difference between “formative” and “summative” contacts).  There’s little-to-no training needed to run this platform–digital native students LOVE it while you get some time back to take action on the “big stuff.”

Program Director

And what about, “nothing slips through the cracks?”

Julianne

Yes, there is ALWAYS too much load put on Program Directors.  We aim for Sterling Credentials to be like an additional FTE (full-time employee) carrying part of the administrative load.

Additionally, educational programs routinely get burnt to the ground when transitioning directors, so we’re building structure to hold anything and everything EMS education—no more “archeological digs” looking for documents!

My big dream for Sterling Credentials is a  “one-click CSSR.” We still have some ways to go to make that happen, but it’s all in the plan.

In the meantime, I’m available to fully review your program and help you flesh out weak areas or understand confusing standards…or at least how to document them.  You do not have to fight alone.

We’ll help you love your job again by giving you back time to do the stuff you actually enjoy.

Let’s get started.
