Are you a NEW EMS Education Program Director wondering where to start?
You have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself into?
Hi! I’m Julianne. I was a program director. My orientation consisted of the following: just make sure the state knows you’re holding a class 30 days ahead of time and that’s about it.
WRONG. Wrong, wrong, wrong. As an EMS Ed Program director you will now answer to between 3 and 6 regulatory agencies–and just like AHA, you can expect all to shift regulations every five years…and NOT in sync. It is amazing how many times I had to completely rework my curriculum to make one or more of these bodies happy.
Everyone agrees it is REALLY helpful to have a mentor–if you do not have someone, I humbly present myself.
I LOVE to hand out all kinds of “free” stuff to help you avoid the bloody noses I got! I also have a network of connections and may even be able to help you with a contact in your own state.
“EMS Program Director Resilience Project” to the rescue!
So, I got together with a cadre of generous to program directors to generate this starter list for you. You can download it here as a PDF. If you want the active excel sheet with all the fancy drop-down boxes, just email me (email is on the bottom of the PDF).
I’m here to take as much work off of your shoulders as possible. No matter how heartfelt your motivation, even the MOST DEDICATED people have a breaking point. Let us help you!

"One Bite at a Time"
It IS a lot–depending on where you are you will be answering to up to FIVE regulatory bodies. It is not uncommon to be scared, tearful, paralyzed.
Now that we all know that is normal, make your first move. Reach out and start to develop that first relationship.
You can do it, too. There are LOTS of us here to help!
