An empty canvas is intimidating. Let’s make it easy.
Steps to Success
Orientation
Take 6 min and 43 seconds to watch our SMC Brief Overview video. It will help you understand the approach we’ve taken to make things easy on students (only 2 ways to record data) and faculty (removing as much work from faculty as possible).
There are three additional more detailed videos that you can save to watch later (or watch now out of curiosity). Find all of them here.
1) Add Team Members.
Onboarding adjunct faculty and lead instructors is super-easy–within 5 minutes have a new user in the system and ready to WORK!
2) Enter your Clinical Affiliates.
This will generate a list from which students can create documentation. It also produces a map and any “notes” you may need the students to know and remember!
3) Explore one of the Sample Cohorts.
- Create a student account using your personal email (so a completely separate one from your faculty account) and enroll into one of the sample cohorts
- Create a lab session; record student performance; see results
- Use the Scheduler as faculty to create shifts and as student to view/request
- Create shift documentation as a student; see how preceptor system works
- Explore SMC and how Sterling Credentials tabulates the credits
4) Create your first cohort
Sounds scary, huh? Don’t worry–with our Cohort Editor and cloning tool this becomes a piece of cake! See how HERE.
5) Decide whether you will use our PreAdmit/PreClin Requirements manager.
Because we know the frustration of trying to gather together all the Preclinical immunizations, HIPAA trainings, etc, we built a super-simple system to allow students to upload their supporting evidence and you can approve/deny and generate cohort PDF’s for submission to your clinical affiliates.
Oh, and NEVER have to get someone a copy of a document they submitted to you but didn’t keep one for themselves!
The great thing is that the students own access forever–we hope one day to help them keep up with all professional things needed to gain employment.
To that end, you can also add “loose ends” completion requirements like NIMS training and jurisprudence testing (a Texas-specific completion requirement) just to have everything in ONE place for them and you.
6) Onboard students
This is a two-step process:
- Share your program URL where students create an account, and
- Give them the enrollment code for their cohort. That’s IT.
7) Schedule a visit with Julianne to gain clarification or see the platform in action (and full of data).
We are not just a software platform–I’m your backup, your mutual aid. (Call me, I get lonely!)
