The Team

Andy Monk—Chief Magic Man

It started in the 80’s with a child investigating his dad’s neglected computer and progressed to a full-fledged fascination.  Recognizing my potential, my parents scrimped and saved to get me my very own computer; I was hooked.  Much to the chagrin of other gift-givers and visitors, I spent that Christmas glued to the computer and its instruction manual.

I have worked on diverse projects from tiny niche businesses to international commerce sites.  I enjoy delivering the realization of a vision.  One of the greatest things I bring to this project is my thorough and thoughtful communication.  I always want to ensure that I am hearing and understanding the ultimate goal.  I also bring a personal investment–for me, a given result is not good enough until I agree it is optimal.

When I’m not keyboarding at the computer, I’m a keyboarding musician.  After demonstrating my lack of ability with guitar and drums, I became a self-taught pianist.  I currently play with a live cover band.

Andy has been “instrumental” to Sterling’s success since day one.  He and I instantly communicated well despite each having our own language (besides code, he speaks “The Queen’s English.”). We’ve taught each other volumes and serve as an immovable foundation.

Michele Brown—Paramedic, EMS Educator, All-Around Support

Growing up, I always wanted to be a teacher, but life did not take me straight to it.

I attended EMT-B class because my dad asked me to. I was terrified.  How could I ever do this?!   At the time I could not walk into a hospital (just to visit a sick friend) without passing out.  I’ll never forget the knots in my stomach as I entered my first hospital rotation—turned out I really liked it.

It was all up from there—the back of an ambulance was very comfortable and a perfect fit!

I spent 10 years as a Basic (and FT dispatcher for all municipal services) and eventually obtained my Paramedic. My childhood dream became reality as I started teaching skills and CE’s.  At the encouragement of my Program Director I stepped out of my comfort zone to lead EMT-B classes at night and absolutely loved it.  I enjoyed watching students put the puzzle pieces together and gain confidence.  Every semester I say was my favorite…and honestly it was.

Although life has separated me from volunteering with an ambulance service after 30 years, my heart is still in helping others…helping and educating others so they can continue serving people.

Michele started with Sterling as a pro bono, best friend, cheerleader and travel support companion for me—I’m not a big fan of travel.  As an active user, she’s helped point out errors and refine functions.  And now, she helps out any way she can—travel, marketing, sales, testing, and helping new users.
